Exterior
We understand exterior as the development of the external attachments including:
- Front and rear bumpers
- Front/rear spoiler
- Diffusers
- Sill trim/sash spoiler
- Exterior mirrors
In addition to the optical and functional aspects of the listed components, a flow-optimised and flow-reduced design is extremely important for avoiding noise in the interior and reducing fuel consumption/CO2 emissions.
It is not only the consideration of technical requirements such as design and manufacturability that plays an important role; requirements such as pedestrian protection or the accommodation of components for driver assistance systems (cameras, sensors) must also be taken into account.

Likewise, all attachments on the exterior are subject to constantly rising requirements regarding perceptible noise in the interior, as well as ambitious goals regarding optimisation of the cw-value.
The aim here is not only to satisfy the visual requirements of the vehicle’s characteristics with regard to the appearance of exterior components, but also to constantly improve these with regard to air turbulence; this then has a 1:1 effect on the cw value of the vehicle and also on the acoustic effects in the interior.
Form & function must be in ideal harmony with each other.
